Data Limitations
All data displayed on WaitRadar is sourced from publicly available NHS England Referral to Treatment (RTT) statistics, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. You should be aware of the following limitations:
- Time delay — NHS data is typically published with a two-month lag. The figures shown may not reflect current waiting times.
- Completeness — not all providers submit data for every period. Some departments or trusts may have gaps in their data.
- Aggregate data — the statistics represent aggregate figures across all patients in a department. Your individual wait may be shorter or longer depending on clinical urgency, capacity, and other factors.
- Median vs. mean — we primarily display the median waiting time, which is the midpoint. This can differ significantly from the average (mean), especially where a small number of patients wait much longer.
- Rounding — wait times are rounded to the nearest whole week for readability.

Where hospital contact details (phone numbers, addresses, websites) are displayed, these are sourced from publicly available NHS data. We do not verify these details are current and cannot guarantee their accuracy. Contact information shown is for the trust's main switchboard, not for individual departments.
